  Call Storm (Rainstorm visual effect)
Posted by: Snake - 03-02-2024, 09:53 PM - Forum: Quality-of-Life (QoL) - No Replies

Could the rain be made a little more transparent, like 50% transparent or have the same animation effect that shifts it from being transparent and visible like Setting Sun?

It's kind of hard to see some effects once it is up, such as Explosion's marker.

Applicable BYOND Key - NotVice
Character Name - To-be Decided

Request Type - Character Ability & Appearance
Details
The Chimera is somewhere between organic and machine, leaning towards organic, with an outer and internal frame replaced by synthetics and metal, driven by a core that replaces the heart and may be repurposed to create a similar Chimera upon death. Capable of self-spurred evolution and 'upgrades', and of a composition that can be mended upon damage by itself to an extent.

Concerning the Chimera's composition, all vital organs are live, and it requires oxygen and sustenance. However most layers of skin and external muscles have been replaced by synthetic components, and the most outer-layer, as well as the skeleton in particular are of a metallic, durable material based on a self-repairing alloy.

For the Core's qualities, it is important to note that it is semi-organic, and it is explicitly intended to be used to create another Homunculi, not revive the same: the loss of the body means the death of it.
As for the upgrades, they
are long-term and not immediate, meaning that a characteristic could be developed to better deal with a previously experienced form of adversity later on.

Specific Request
Approval for the IC development and creation of a Chimera with two main quirks.
* Heavy-metal making of two layers of synthetic and metallic components, substituting flesh and bone for non-vital organs.
* An evolving core that requires a body to operate and is dubbed as 'Heart', which may be repurposed if the Homunculi is destroyed.

  [v2.83 v2] Trap Oddities
Posted by: Autumn - 03-02-2024, 05:31 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Traps seem to have a couple of oddities that are inconsistent with most other skills in the game, the first one I think you are aware of so I am unsure of if its a bug, it is an inconsistency so I'll state it, but the 2nd one almost assuredly seems like a bug to me as well.

1) Traps appear to inflict targets regardless of if the attack hits or not, through Body of Isesip/Glancing/Full Dodge

2) Traps appear to be able to roll infliction checks against corpses:

It seems like traps just don't have infliction tied to the actual hit itself, which is perfectly understandable but I figured I'd throw this up anyway in case this isn't intended.

  Nomster Spine
Posted by: zericosmic - 03-02-2024, 12:43 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (9)

Of all the people to make a thread on monster spine, I betcha weren't expecting the axe gamer herself.

Monster spine is an incredibly fun weapon, it has so many fun things attached to it that it's quickly become one of my favorite weapons. (And Visceral Strike is just so damn satisfying)

However, it existing alongside bodyguard can become utterly silly, people are able to keep themselves in bodyguard range for multiple turns, making the weapon borderline oppressive on tank builds.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that the healing aspect of the weapon should be changed to be On Crit, rather than just hit, that way getting access to it's healing potential is reserved for builds that have to invest in to it, and it would make harder to invest in to being a tank.

It would also incentivize wearing something like Berserker Shell, (or Sarasha for all you wackos :>) rather than what's arguably the strongest chest piece in the game.

I think the fantasy of this weapon is that of a Barbarian or a Berserker, eschewing defense for a constant fury of attacks, and I feel like in it's current iteration, it is far more abusable as a tank.

  The use of One-Hand Trait
Posted by: Snake - 03-01-2024, 07:53 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

Let's face it. People are only taking those for the mechanical advantages, and demanding others to omit the fact they don't have a hand.

There's no solution to this problem, unless there are notable drawbacks for using them, even when they're being optimally used. For example.

One-Hand in particular could fully disable your gloves slot, make it be forcefully unequipped once combat starts. We have the system for that now. People pick that when they're using weapons that don't benefit from Two-Hand Talent, which are for the most part, Tomes, Guns and Bows. This thing could be made into an actual drawback with no benefits and you'd see more sensitive use of that.

Either that, or just... I don't know. Change this trait into "One-Hand Mastery", which doesn't goddamn cut off your hand but lets you still have your boons to Hit. Whichever is more agreeable at this point, because ultimately, I don't think this is being used in good faith by people, from the amount of mages I tend to see, once clicking their profiles, that they're 'missing one hand'.

Instead of a Trait, this should be a thing in the Profile where you can write your injuries there, like an extra tab or button for 'Health'.

  Ducks in the Clouds
Posted by: Fern - 03-01-2024, 02:07 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (3)

Ducknecks should be added to the Sea of Clouds because it'd be funny even if it was a temporary thing. We've got so many things like insects and birdies, but not enough flying ducks. We need more quack, quack, quack. More quacking.

I want to see the world burn for a week.

  New Duckneck Enemy
Posted by: Poruku - 03-01-2024, 02:07 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (3)

So the sea of clouds has a lot of different birds. We got fire birds, wind birds, dead birds, uh... Snakes? But there's one portion of the spectrum that is woefully missing. That's right, aquatic birds. We don't even have any sort of penguins. I would say ducks fit in perfectly.

Did you know that all ducks have highly waterproof feathers? A duck's feathers are so waterproof that even when the duck dives underwater, the downy underlayer of feathers right next to the skin will stay completely dry.
In addition, Ducks are also called ‘waterfowl’ because they are normally found in places where there is water like ponds, streams, and rivers.

Furthermore, ducks have been domesticated as pets and farm animals for more than 500 years, and all domestic ducks are descended from either the mallard or the Muscovy duck. Mallards, especially, are easy to crossbreed with other types of ducks, and mallards often hybridise with all types of ducks at local ponds.

Ducks are filter feeders. Perhaps the most common, recognizable feeding mode is tipping up or dabbling. Ducks from the tribe Anatini are collectively known as dabbling ducks, but swans and geese will also tip up to feed. Pochards, stifftails, and sea ducks are commonly referred to as divers because they seek out food below the water's surface.

Also check out this duckling.
Pretty cool right?

Ducks generally only have one partner at a time, although the partnership usually only lasts one year.

Here's my suggestion: we add a duck with a really long neck. Here's concept art I made:

Their abilities revolve around duck-related skills such as waddling and pecking. They have an ability called "the great filter" that kills you instantly if you have less than 200 total hit and no evade ignoring abilities in your skill pool. Apart from that they can fly and shoot water beams. They're also resistant to water. Pretty self-explanatory I think.

Ducks have many predators. Ducklings are particularly vulnerable, since their inability to fly makes them easy prey not only for predatory birds but also for large fish like pike, crocodilians, predatory testudines such as the alligator snapping turtle, and other aquatic hunters, including fish-eating birds such as herons. Ducks' nests are raided by land-based predators, and brooding females may be caught unaware on the nest by mammals, such as foxes, or large birds, such as hawks or owls. For this reason, they should take 15% more damage from redtail and corbie enemies.

Ducks eat food sources such as grasses, aquatic plants, fish, insects, small amphibians, worms, and small molluscs. For this reason, they should deal 50% more damage to doriads, theno, and shaitans.

Ducks have many economic uses, being farmed for their meat, eggs, and feathers (particularly their down). Approximately 3 billion ducks are slaughtered each year for meat worldwide. For this reason, they should drop poultry wraps as well as bird feathers and eggs.

They should also drop a weapon called the Duck's Neck which makes a quacking noise whenever you attack with it. It's a whip that also has the duck subtype. It allows you to call a duckneck monster to battle but only if you type "Quack!" in chat at the same time you perform a crit. If you enchant the whip with bloodhunt and you have "detective" in your alias you can also say "Let's quack this case" and it's gonna summon a ducktective who wields a knife and has an alcohol problem.

Here's a picture of a duck wearing sunglasses
[Image: duck-wearing-sunglasses-that-say-i-m-duc...6-6948.jpg]

By the way, the domestic duck (Anas platyrhynchos domesticus) is a subspecies of mallard that has been domesticated and raised for meat and eggs. A few are kept for show, as pets, or for their ornamental value. Almost all varieties of domesticated ducks, apart from the domestic Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata), are descended from the mallard, which was domesticated in China around 2000 BC. Crazy to think that it's such a specific species of duck that we consume, when so many other types exist.

Anyway check out this duck. Doesn't he look quackin' crazy? It's a muscovy duck, they produce a richly-flavoured meat, and are kept as pets.

But for real, put duckneck in the game, it's gonna be a great addition to the Sigrogana ecosystem. I think adding that monster is gonna fix the game balance overall. Definitely gonna fix my marriage at the very least.

  Sea of Clouds suggestion
Posted by: Rockabye - 03-01-2024, 02:07 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (3)

So I've been thinking and I think I've realized that the Sea of Clouds is lacking a specific something. A majestic creature, regal in frame, standing tall and proud. Something that can truly reach into a sea of clouds and be right at home, frolicking in the heavens with grace and refined dignity that would make a nobleman take a knee. You're correct, my fine fellow, I mean ducknecks! Gaze upon their splendor and recognize what a fine addition it would be, delightful game of the highest quality to hunt. But only if you could bring yourself to do so. You may choose to simply admire their beauty from afar, and not a soul could judge you for it. Ah, the splendor... Please, forgive my reverie and consider my plea, add these beautiful incarnations of divinity into the Sea of Clouds so that they may take their rightful place.
