Sorsus - Chimera Appearance and Abilities. (Korvara)
Posted by: Snowman - 06-21-2023, 05:58 PM - Forum: Character Applications - No Replies

Applicable BYOND Key - Undeadwater

Character Name - Sorsus

Discord - snowman2626 (This mode of communication is preferred)

Request Type - Request for Unique Chimera Biology (Extra limbs, maws, and Features.) beyond the specified norms of such a race.

Request Details - I generally wish to keep my character's description loose in a way. It takes away from the horror of the unknown I wish to play with this Chimera. But I'll keep it short and simple.

It'll have several limbs ranging from human to monstrous. The skin grafted upon it will switch between hairless, scaly, furry, and chitinous. It'll have several other body parts attached to different body parts. These parts will be mostly inoperative but may work or such under the right stimulus.

These extra parts are liable to be used in RP for fluff and such. The usage for an advantage will be discussed and rolled with a D20 Twice. These will not be used for any mechanical advantage, purely RP, at the chance of failure.

These limbs will also be used for shapeshifting. The Chimera race isn't locked from shapeshifting despite the rare combo. The extra limbs shouldn't pose an issue. That and youkai limbs are thrown into the mix. It'll likely be a malformed and tall figure considering all the extra limbs and meat. The seams and threads used to connect flesh obvious enough to see for some reason. So, a bump in height is to be expected. It'll reach a towering 8 feet tall standing. Though, it'll be in a more animal-like stance most of the time.

The Chimera will sport a constant fog of smoke-like substance around it. This will only generate in reaction to high light. Why does this exist? Well, someone wanted to test the activation of attributes under direct/indirect luminosity. This is a modification of the Nightshade skill from Shapeshifter. This is purely for RP and has no mechanical advantage.

The creature is obviously a shapeshifter. The creator knows this and implanted two sets of growing Mana crystals upon its shoulders and lower back. These glow a natural blue as it saps the air and area for focus. The focus of this experiment is to aid the Focus regeneration of the creature. The threads used for stitching pulse with energy from such implanted crystals. It's simply another way to store focus. The thick coils of enchanted with the Tannin catalyst to contain extra energy for shifting. This is simply an explanation for the Mystic grow limb and just more fluff. I wanna RP a patchwork of blue lines upon a veil of shadow. It serves no mechanical advantage like the rest of this. I simply want my fluff and style.

Reasons why you are making this request (if applicable) -  I just find playing abominations neat, and I want to get permission considering how extreme this case is of non-humaning.

That and I wanna spice up things and stuff. That's about it, honestly. I just had an idea and decided it was cool enough to try and do.

Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - It could be a bored flesh crafter, a passionate homunculi crafter with loose rules on human design, or a perfectionist testing his strange ideas on a living human guinea pig. This abomination is the result of one or perhaps all motivations to push the boundaries.

Those boundaries, perhaps, shouldn't be pushed to the bending point.

It wouldn't be improbable for Korvara's population size and Meiaquar's and Gelaydne's facilities to produce many capable of homunculi creation. It shouldn't be impossible for one or two to have less savory experiments in mind, even more so if we account for possible trauma and mental illnesses in the mix.

But I'm overstating since that creator already exists within Korvara, and all those unaware will have their stomachs tested against the by-products of his dream. Their experimental creations mostly... Well.

The majority? Dead Flesh.

The surprising? Functioning Flesh.

The truly special? Deadly Flesh.

It doesn't matter in the end, I suppose. They're few. They're only embers of the barely remembered. The thought of passed and dead. The missing upon the constantly moving world. They're no longer human at that point. They're all just Flesh. They will stay as Flesh. They will die as Flesh. That is the fate of this homunculi.

I just went over the edge with that. Oh, well. Main point. I haven't seen or read anything that entirely says no to full abomination. It's still a human mind trapped in a monstrous form. I'm not gonna RP as a knockoff Monster. I'm not trying for a monster. I want to roleplay a human mind trapped in a hideous skin of flesh. The one unlikely Homunculi who got the short end of the stick. The single most screwed human creation that has graced Korvara for now. I want to see the effects of such a formation. That's about it.

The Catalyst thing also shouldn't be impossible. The Tannin enchantment can be applied to swimsuits and other armors. It's implied that the catalyst infuses into the item somewhere. I might be mistaken here but the point remains. It shouldn't be too far-stretched to assumed heavy duty coils can be enchanted with this for fluff purposes. (I'm not even looking for extra FP. I just want cool blue lines.)

Isendo doesn't work on Blindscale? v.2.73d
Posted by: Dezark - 06-21-2023, 09:30 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

https://prnt.sc/oTE_D2Y3l0wq

Screenshot shows for the above, the Lone Swordswoman attacked the ice tyrant, it moved one tile from me and inflicted freeze on me cause of ice blood, I went to use Isendo since I presume it didn't target specifically since it was a AoE circle, but it ignored the ice tyrant on cast despite being in range of it, so I used struggle afterwards.

Por'Phavr+ does not apply to youkai evokes... Yet the previous variation does... I feel this would at least give it a niche use if it DID apply to youkai Evokes. Just sayin'...

  Korvara Event Map
Posted by: Turadis - 06-19-2023, 10:01 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (9)

In SL2, an event map is a map that is prepared for use in an event. These are some event maps from the late days of the great six.

Commonly in those days, the player housing system was used to create event spaces to represent enviornments that didn't already exist in the SL2 overworld. But these are different. These are .jpg images sewn together using an eventmin's ability to spawn objects in the map, and are just spawned in empty map tiles that any player was able to spawn in the great six using the camping system. When prepared and layered properly, they can create any enviornment in the live game just from an image applied over an empty background. I'll call it the 'Fake Map Trick'.

Korvara doesn't have player housing anymore. So one huge avenue we had to use to create player-driven and eventmin-driven stories is gone. But I'm not here to call for it's return. Because there's an alternative option; the fake map trick is still totally possible in Korvara. We could use that. If we had an empty space for it.

What I'm calling for here is actually very simple. A map tile to be added to Korvara that is completely empty. Just grass. Or walkable black void. Or anything. This map tile, the 'Korvara Event Map' as I am going to call it, would be inaccessable by players in normal gameplay. It could only be accessed by Admins/Eventmins using their teleport commands to bring themselves and others there. But the Event Map should ideally include an NPC or portal of some kind in the bottom corner in the case that unlucky players got stuck there, so they could use it to warp themselves back to Korvara without needing GM assistance.

With this tool, eventmins would have a space they could use to prepare the fake map trick without having to overwrite huge swaths of Korvara's actual terrain. Thus infinitely expanding the available types of enviornments and terrains they, and the players that work with them, could set stories in.

It has been made clear in the past that Korvara's actual size is heavily abstracted for the purposes of gameplay. There are hundreds of places that would exist in Korvara, but don't, and adding in entirely new spaces to the island via the mapping team is a very tall, laborious, and time consuming demand. To say nothing of how quickly Korvara is running out of space for such ventures, and of how event spaces do not frequently need to be permanently accessable locations--Or could even be destroyed in the process of the event.

I believe this solution would be the one that grants eventmins and the players who enjoy creating content the most options for the most reasonable amount of effort. The more such people are enabled, the more content rich the game becomes, and the more advanced the stories everyone can tell. If you support the idea, please leave a comment in the thread so that it can reach more people.

  [v2.73d] Betrayer's Wit
Posted by: Trexmaster - 06-19-2023, 04:37 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

Attacking an ally with Betrayer's Wit and gaining its buff results in losing 10 hit and gaining 10 range.

I figure this is a bug and the intention is to gain 10 hit and no range, since that isn't something you gain from upgrades.

  [TEST SERVER] Muridae Racials
Posted by: polly - 06-19-2023, 09:14 AM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (7)

I do not know if this is the appropriate place to post this - I was conflicted between posting it in Race/Class suggestions and here - but I ultimately decided that this would be the best spot - considering this is involving a (unreleased) official race.

With the recent release of Muridae within the Test Server, I was one of the many to hop on to try and test it out first thing first - however, I believe while the race boasts a really good stat line, it falls... kind of short in regards to racials. Other Kaels either have a proper stat buff from their respective instinct traits, or have other racials that serve as great utility and offers a different playstyle to experiment with... However, Muridae doesn't exactly have anything impressive. It falls flat in PvP - and really doesn't hold much for PvE either, sans the +5% drop rate.

It has Golden Eyes, a standard for Kaels, +10% lockpicking which is nice to save a talent point... I guess. +1 Mov is very nice. Flee chance... I guess can be nice?

I believe Something Shiny could have more uses/potential than it currently has. One of the Traits Muridae can take, Little Cheese does kind of lean towards something interesting. That being the +4 GUI/WIL buff as long as they are holding Something Shiny.

The biggest issue I see with the racials so far is...

Muridae Instinct's... odd design choice.
It sounds interesting on paper. On the start of a new round, you have a 5+(S.SAN*2)% chance to gain Something Shiny if you're standing besides or behind an opponent. The biggest problem with this is the fact that Muridae has 8 CEL base. Meaning that unless your opponent somehow builds more CEL than you (unlikely unless you go tank on a race not meant for tanking and your opponent is a dodge), you're basically never going to go second. The only way for this to ever happen is for you to single out an opponent in a fight that somehow goes after you... which, in fights where this cannot be done (i.e. 1v1s, anywhere where you go first[most of the time], etc.), that's not going to happen. The only way for you a new round to start with you besides or behind an opponent, is for you to skip your turn. Which... in return, the opponent can do as well, so that's not exactly an option.

All of that aside, Muridae have another glaring issue. So let's say you end up besides or behind an opponent. Cool. Here's the biggest issue;

You have to be facing them. Unless you are looking at your opponent, you're not going to proc your Instinct and gain your buff. Meaning that if you just somehow manage to move next to your opponent without facing them, you're not exactly going to gain anything...

... not like Something Shiny does anything in particular for non PvE encounters. The +5% drop rate is nice. Not groundbreaking, but it'd be dumb to scoff at it. It's nice. +5% Murai drop rate is really negligible when you only really get like 75 Murai / encounter. But apart from that... nothing, really.

Sure, at 50% or less HP, you get a chance to throw your Shiny at your opponent's face which... I... guess does 20 damage? Cool?
And then it... moves you behind them... facing away from them... so if they have enough momentum to attack again, you just... basically let them flank you for no reason in particular. I'd understand if this was supposed to be a downside to Muridae Instinct, but... Muridae Instinct holds little real upside apart from the +5% drop rates in a PvE. It doesn't even inflict any sort of debuff, it just... hits for negligible damage.

I believe Muridae's instincts are a great idea on paper, but I believe there's a lot left to be desired. Right now, they're just Felidae but without any kind of proper racial benefits (sans Golden Eyes).

I have a few suggestions in mind that could possibly help make Muridae stand out from the other Kael races without just... being a Felidae 2.0 - specifically expanding on the whole gimmick regarding Something Shiny. Do note that these are general suggestions - my intention is not to suggest giving all of these to Muridae.

  • Muridae Instinct
An interesting take on their racial and the gimmick behind gaining Something Shiny would be turning Rats into glass cannons. Whilst other Kaels gain their bonus stat points from being on low health - Muridae could be the opposite. Upon gaining Something Shiny - they gain a buff to select stats (that being WIL, SKIL, GUI and CEL - can be changed as need be - doesn't have to be as strong as regular kael instinct buffs at low HP). For as long as they remain healthy and out of trouble, they keep their stat bonuses.

This would make the On Hit effect of Muridae Instinct a downside. Play smart and keep your health high - or risk losing your buffs entirely.

This should probably make it so your Scaled SAN decreases your chance to throw Something Shiny instead of increasing it. But then again, this would require the percentages to be played around with.

It could also be a buff to Little Cheese instead of an entire racial change... But that would require that Big Cheese gets something as equally valuable in return.
  • Make Steal also activate Muridae Instinct (or a seperate Racial Trait that can be used)
Muridaes have synergy with Steal because of their Big Cheese trait. It would give rats a more 'active' way of gaining their passive instead of trying to end the round next to someone. Speaking of.
  • Make it so you can steal facing opponents
While I understand why it would normally proc only from besides/behind opponents, from a balancing stand point - as previously mentioned - makes little sense. Could make it so there's a higher chance when behind/besides an opponent, and keep the chances low at front.
  • (Possibly, uncertain) Make it so you don't need to face your opponent to proc Muridae Instinct
Could also make it a Racial trait for Muridae. They have tails - why not give them a work out and learn some expert thievery with them?
  • (Possibly a trait) Give a use to the On Hit effect of Muridae Instinct?
Right now... you get hit (it does not negate the hit) - you deal miniscule damage - and you move behind your opponent, facing away from them - and let them flank you. Either make it so you move 2-3 tiles behind the opponent, or make the On-Hit effect inflict Blind the same way how Pocket Sand does. I believe a full-attack negation would be a bit too strong but... What do I know?

All in all, I believe Muridaes have a ton of potential - and I'm sure they're still in-testing, which is why I decided to make this thread with suggestions and my current concerns with the racials as a whole.
I'd love to hear the community's opinion on the race - and the changes suggested above. While the Race is very recent - and I think it's kind of... obvious that indepth testing was not done (I have made sure to test what I could in the test server with others), I think many can agree that Rats are currently lackluster.

This is my first ever thread (in general, but suggestions count as well), so I apologize for it's length. I just wanted to make sure that my thought process was easy to follow regarding my current concerns.

Add the following verbs to the list of allowed verbs for eventmins:

- full-heal
- unlock-all-promos

It would be nice if we could fully heal others as well. This is especially important for encounter testing

2.73d You can't Turn me! (Plushie bug?)
Posted by: Dezark - 06-16-2023, 03:58 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Very minor thing, but gigas rex plushie does not appear to turn with direction at all compared to other plushies. Tested using the Gigas Rex Plushie, and the Jorfel plushie, the gigas rex plushie does not turn at all no matter which direction you face, so carrying it while your facing away causes it to appear on your back, while the Jorfel plushie used as example opposite, turns and faces in the directions proper.

(sorry if this image is really small, i just screenshotted carrying both for this)
