  Arcane Tattoo (Gamble)
Posted by: Maya - 03-15-2024, 03:18 PM - Forum: Approved Characters - Replies (1)

Applicable BYOND Key - MayaTheHarpy
Character Name - Piper
Request Type - Character/RP Ability

Request Details -  I'd like to RP a..bit of a unique (to say the least) manifestation of a combination of items and racials, turned instead into a magical art/tatoo passed down through this family line.

Specific Request - I want to have this character possess a 'magical tattoo' on her eye (ew gross!) that essentially manifests through a few conditions seen in items and racials ingame (which will be listed below), and grant her a number of boons. The conditions are are such;

  • In combat, taking an excessive risk of any sort, increases her amount of luck. In her case, this normally involves playing a game of russian roulette every turn, taking minor damage unless she gets incredibly unlucky. (which naturally won't happen considering I can't inflict dmg to myself to that amount, nor wish to kill my character instantly..) This is usually seen by the activation of shock collar, and the DB kickback dmg she'll inflict.
  • Every time a notable risk is taken, a growing meter of focus builds inside of the mark, adding a petal, and increasing the glowing effect of the tattoo, as seen in a screenshot below. While this has some minor effects, the focus build up in the mark is majoritarily only released on command. This is seen through having both Conversion Gloves and Accellia equipped, making the effects over time an increase of movement, and the usual charge weapon effects (in her case, mostly used on hand trigger bombs thus; increasing dps, bomb range and ignoring evasion). Activating a fully charged tatoo will thus have a euphoric effect on her personality and grant her a distinguishable amount of focus, both magical and mental.
  • Because risk is taken every turn, rather than rolling dice as seen in the Redtail racial, she'd instead also fill her guns rounds with blanks, increasing in explosiveness and fear factor. Depending on the loudness she scares herself with, she gets a number of boons. This will thus be seen in the evasion bonuses she gets depending on the Redtail dice rolled, and the various effects provided by the fortune cookies, both good and bad.

Reason why you are making this request - I figure It'd be fun to add some unique flavour to a few things that wouldn't quite make sense to equip IC! They will be regaliad accordingly and explained through emotes.

Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - As seen in bold above! Magical Tattoos have various effects already ingame and through lore, and various chaotic magics of similar existence are seen in the likes of chaos dice and the items listed; conversion gloves, shock collar, etc. Damage is shown to be possible means as a condition for an increase of power, so why not add a weird, dangerous spin to it!

  [v.2.85b (Test)] Covering Fire
Posted by: Collector - 03-15-2024, 04:22 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

Covering Fire's skill description and debuff description don't match up, but the skill properly applies the -hit and -crit as per the skill description.

[Image: image.png?ex=660640d7&is=65f3cbd7&hm=ed8...y=lossless]      vs       [Image: image.png?ex=660640fa&is=65f3cbfa&hm=f95...y=lossless]

Covering Fire's skill animation also seems to fire bullets in random directions instead of at the target (or in straight lines). I can't put any rhyme or reason to it or where it fires, but it looks to be a purely visual issue.

  Invention #1
Posted by: Senna - 03-15-2024, 01:13 AM - Forum: Approved Characters - Replies (1)

Applicable BYOND Key - Snowsen
Character Name - Cream
Request Type - Invention - Armor
Request Details -

Heat Jet Armor.

The purpose of this armor is to allow the wearer to charge the stored heat into a burst while withstanding the extreme temperatures and minimizing burns. A blast they may channel through various armor-mounted vents.

There will be six different vents infused with mixed materials.

  • The arms - A channel that was linked to the Focus Circuit of the user, enabling 360-degree swirling. The forearm is where this rests. Its purpose is to either cut the force or halt the strike entirely, or to increase the swinging or overall power behind the attacks using their arms.
  • The legs - A vent that is linked to the Focus Circuit of the user; located on the Calfs. In contrast to the arms, these can only approach at a 270-degree angle to ensure the user's safety as well as that of the armor (Can never point directly up). Like the arm, these function more like a jet pack when you need a little boost for lengthy jumps, dashing, or tiny rocket hopping. They could also be used for empowered kicking.
  • The Upper Back - These have a direction that is nearly fixed. The most they could do was make a minor correction by moving slightly left, right, down, or up. When the user uses the vents in their arms or legs, these are meant to help with center balance correction so they don't turn over or lose their equilibrium.
  • Passive - If the user chooses not to store the heat when the Vents are not in use, they can activate the passive heat release feature. This keeps the armor at a specific temperature by acting as a cooling system; the original function of the armor.
Drawbacks
  • The user's ability to utilize this function is still limited because it still needs time to gather the heat buildup and cool down after each burst. Overheating these functions can cause burns to the user or break them.
  • A typical blacksmith will not be able to fix it if it is damaged.
  • The user's requirement to manipulate the vent settings with their Focus is the other disadvantage. They must practice and learn more about mass, weight, and center of gravity in order to accomplish this.

Materials used
  1. Arctic
  2. Clawice
  3. Magmic
  4. Galdric
  5. Fireblood

Specific Request - Heat Resistance Armor - Primarily for RP and fluff's sake. Perhaps also serve as a little role-playing ability, but the type of power people are already using.

Reason why you are making this request (if applicable)

ICly assigned the task of creating this kind of armor. They said, "Surprise them," meaning they would be receiving an invention from them rather than the ordinary armor that a blacksmith could have made.

Don't come to R&D for standard armor....You'll get inventions instead.

Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - Existing abilities and armors that does very similar. I'm just putting them all together in 1 IC armor.

  Lantern Bearer SP crunch

Let this dated class have some fun until its eventual rework.

Reduce the maximum SP costs for all the Flames to Rank 3, including Focused Beam.

  Confusion is confusing

Confusion should make you deal 25-50% less damage while you are afflicted by the status, at least, to friendly targets.

  Splish Splash (Soaked Thread)
Posted by: Snake - 03-14-2024, 07:18 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - No Replies

I find it a little hard to make the use of Soaked's secondary effect in PvE, due to how rare it is for enemies to not be exactly cardinal to each other if you lack pull and pushes to set them up for it, and most of the time, you'd see them more on their diagonals than anything since mobs will desperately try to be within 1 range of you, or will always run towards you.

So the idea came along, what if Soaked's effect gained also the diagonal squares? It'd definitely let you use it outside of very niche situations where they're all perfectly lined up.

For short. Instead of only targeting 4 squares (N,S,W,E) [Image: image.png?ex=6605c2b7&is=65f34db7&hm=eb0...37c5b7d1c&], it targets all 8 directions around the target [Image: image.png?ex=6605c2d0&is=65f34dd0&hm=6bf...09a692d67&]. All squares within 1 range. So lightning can bounce more effectively in crowds of mobs that are at the very least, close enough to each other or in melee range, which would be awesome for Lantern Bearer in particular.

Ideally, if possible, make this only apply to NPC enemies.

  Inverse shift+click ignore movement
Posted by: lalchi - 03-14-2024, 03:52 PM - Forum: Suggestions - No Replies

On the last updates, we got a new function :

Quote:- Holding Shift will prevent clicks from triggering left-click mouse movement (for example, if you were trying to double click someone to examine them, you could hold Shift to avoid any misclick accidents.)

While it is a great feature, let me make some suggestion.

An option that inverse the function of the click.
Meaning, shift+left click WILL make your character move, but only if shift is hold.

Let's bring some LORE to Korvara!
Posted by: Poruku - 03-14-2024, 05:58 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (7)

I wanna talk about the lore of certain core game elements that is simply missing in Korvara.

RACES
Most notably, races. All of the lore related to races in the game is of course tied to... The Great Six. Kaelensia are tied to the great beasts of Egwyn, Zerans worship their god in bone temples, we got papilions who come from a specific forest in the world, etc etc, and all manner of god-related races.

The following races have lore in Korvara:
- Naga
- Shaitan, Umbral, Theno, Oracle.
- Elves
- Reaper and Apertaurus
- Omina.
- Doriad

The following races have unclear lore:
Redtails. They're tied to amiras, but also the "great fox spirit" probably wasn't in korvara.
- Wyverntouched? I guess wyverns exist, despite never being seen or mentioned. In g6 we had some lore about wyverns living in Alstalsia.
- Papilions are kinda nebulous but at least you can rp them as coming from a random forest similar to mechana.

Races that have NO LORE:
- Every Kaelensia
- Glykin
- Hyattr

Races that were removed from the game because no lore(???):
- Vampire
- Zeran
- Lich
- Dullahan (There's literally no lore reason they're not here, other than dev not wanting immortal chars. Which feels kinda weird when mad dullahans exist... Why can't we just have young dullahans?...)

All we need is some blurbs explaining the korvara lore of these races. For instance, the god-related races could be born in Korvara from the gods as well, even though the influence is faint and distant. Just give us some sort of lore that can even be a copy paste of what happened in G6.

Something we could do is have race lore that is specific to Korvara in the race selection menu. Ultimately, having some proper official lore in game would go a long way to help people have more fleshed out backstories and a stronger race identity.

CLASSES
So there are a few classes in the game that are extremely specific in lore, and it's really weird. In G6, you could occasionally roleplay your class as part of your character and backstory. In Korvara, it's kinda just a thing you're doing.

The following classes are G6-specific:
- Kensei
- Black Knight
- Verglas

The following classes have lore that is weird in Korvara:
- Engineer (We have autonomous robots with tank threads and flying helicopter blares that people from anywhere can create. It puts the technological level of the world into question)
- Magic Gunner (No Karaten)
- Priest (No gods!)

These classes have their own Korvara lore (Very nice!!!):
- Demon Hunter
- Shifter
- Rune Magician

If we got a small amount of lore for that is specific to Korvara, even a small explanation of what it means here, it could really help bring a bit more meat to some characters. Especially something like Kensei!

Here's some Examples:

Kael
There were ancient animal spirits that blessed populations. Could be essentially echoes of the great beasts. Maybe the beasts visited korvara before recorded history.

Glykin
Can be the same thing as G6. People were sick, and they got healed. But in their case it was the intervention of mythical golden snakes that appeared, and now it's a creature of legend.

Vampire
Can just be same lore as G6 but without the op misting, and have them be born from an ancient cursed artefact instead of Huggessoa directly.

Kensei
There was an ancient samurai order that acted as mercenaries for the nations, and now their order is dissolved and lost to time but the techniques and the culture of self-improvement and mastery of the blade has persisted. I also think it would be nice if there was the korvara version of oniga in lore, even if it's nothing but ruins.

Verglas
We have an arctic area with an ancient civilization. We could absolutely say that there were tribes who used that type of martial art.

BK
Just make black wind a technique that is obtained after harsh soldier training. Instead of being nation-specific, it could be like something that awakens in you. The power to impose yourself and protect others, when your conviction is strong enough. The mind of steel and body of steel manifesting that power through sheer will and ability to influence the world.

Anyway, I know Dev might have some things planned for the future, like reveals or something maybe, but I just think it's a real shame. I mean it's gonna be 2 years and we still have no vampires or Kael lore...

And to those thinking "well just put that in a lore doc", the lore that nations write down is definitely not something everyone reads or agrees on. You can't just have one nation claim lore that is so central to the game. We just need Dev to make simple lore that we can work with and expand upon.

  [v2.84d] Mental Facility Visual Bug
Posted by: Silka - 03-14-2024, 02:48 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

This is in the first floor of the Mental Facility in Telegrad, with the two offices that are closest to the counter (Not the group therapy room or the large meeting office).
Both of their desk chairs have an issue with being on the wrong layer(Or it looks like that), and doesn't look right.

I can't find when exactly this nerf happened but the trait doesn't reflect what the value actually is for the charm (and makes me sad).
