Inks I don't think should be something you can buy, but shards... I suppose the novelty wears off once you've done it once, you can't really 'new build' the shard gathering the way you could try new things each time you grind up a character. Brain food already does the 'pay to get set up faster', and everyone tends to gather shards anyway, so I don't think it'd be a difference maker compared to being able to buy inks.
