Request Type - Invention

Request Details - Attempting to invent an Ice Box for small scale food storage, as well as a walk-in freezer for larger scale food and ingredient storage.

Specific Request - The Ice Box would exist to act as a cold food storage for mainly prepared and ready to eat food, acting almost like a large lunchbox. It could also be transported, though transportation would likely require multiple people or a carriage of sorts due to the weight of the box. The walk-in freezer, otherwise referred to as the Chilled Room, would be a larger, more stationary option for storage. It would exist for longer term storage, keeping things such as ingredients or food that needs to be prepared fresh for a longer amount of time at colder temperatures. 

Reason why you are making this request - The Don asked for it, so here it shall be.

Roleplay & Lore Supporting Your Request - R&D has logs of their trip to the Tundra to gather materials, and a report has been written describing the functional concept of the ice box and freezer. One hasn't been built yet, but prototypes will begin based on this concept if approved.

Inspiration for the Invention - The Don requested an attempt to make some form of cold storage using cold materials from the nearby Tundra.

Existing Technology - Food preservation has been an active research topic for some time, with this being another step in that process. Brining, for example, was an earlier part of that process.

Development Time - An Ice Box prototype would take roughly 1 IC month, with the Chilled Room taking roughly 3 IC months because of the need to prepare a specific location to set one up.

You have my sincere apologies for getting to this so late, but better late than never!

The consensus myself and the GM team reached in regards to cold storage is that smaller scale stuff is permitted. However, larger scale stuff (especially something as big as a room) is not something that will work out logically. 

Something small like a box requires less energy output and resources, whereas something as large as a room requires far much more that simply is not within the realm of realistic possibility at this time.
