Tired after punching
#1
Greetings everyone!

I want to address a certain problem for a class that a few of us love: Boxer. Can we do something with the high FP cost? I am not too well versed on the balance topic but, if that would mean people would abuse geist... why not remove it altogether and change it with something that while not overpowered, allow us to have some fun with it?

What do you all think?

The high fp costs are part of what balances it, considering how much damage and aoe it has on top of geists defensively. Maybe when there's a geist rework someday, but for now there's classes that could use the help more imo and there's only so much dev time.

I think realistically keeping if not bumping the geist costs specifically while reducing others would be a fine thing. Some of the boxer stuff is a little over the top fp wise in cost when others have it cheaper.

Just give the offensive skills besides Asura Fist a FP reduction and call it a day really. The only offensive skills that see regular use is Kork and Asura Fist, with an occasional Regen.

There's a built-in passive that tries to mitigate the FP loss. Except it doesn't really work too well for the momentum it takes. It could just be reworked to operate like Kensei's passive FP regen.

Not that Kensei's one is that good, but it'd work a lot better than what Boxer currently has.

Zen Blade ain't too bad, its a nice bonus if you manage to play around with momentum in weird ways, fighting pace just isn't that good since the numbers are too low to be meaningful and boxer is less freeform with it's momentum than a duelist can be given their strict resource requirements, blue potion at 3m can be used as a sort of anchor for skills like this, going off of Cog's suggestion I might be able to see it restoring 40-45 FP at 3m, and each additional point of momentum increasing that further

Correct at what Cog says.

I've tried so hard to get that passive buffed, but it ever got ignored. For now, the only way to play Boxer without WIL is to go Evoker on the side and use Absorb Power.

I like to play boxer with no WIL and just mix in a few basic attacks. I do think it's one of the things that make boxer balanced atm

Boxer isn't really that much of a stand out in terms of strength beyond stomping people who don't know how to play around Geist or have no choice but to play into it. It's a solid class, but it's one of the most easily outplayed and easiest to gear against on top of that; it's core strength is its ability to absolutely demolish PVE, but it's quite fair in PVP because 80% of the game ignores geist and Boxer is very limited in how it can engage.

I honestly don't agree with FP being one of its balancing components because frankly speaking; if you removed the FP costs from Boxer, it wouldn't change.... anything? All they'd get is the ability to abuse Asura Fist without running into repeat action FP costs, it's not like Boxer doesn't benefit from WIL besides FP given that their best scaling move wants dark attack.

That said, I do agree the FP passive should work similarly to Zen Blade; give it 10 FP per momentum you end turn with and it's golden. (and better than zen blade dear god, that passive is a complete waste of SP unless you wanna refund the FP cost of sheath sword once every few turns)
