Glancing Retaliate
#1
Retaliate doesn't lose all of it's rage energy on glancing or evading, which I believe is fair.
but...

Can it at least be given a 1T cooldown so it isn't spammed right after a glancing?

On the Goblin Giant fight it feels especially bad since I'm basically punished for having glanced an attack.

That seems to be a bug.

But if we're not calling it that, Retaliate could just ignore evasion for consistency's sake.

If it became evade-ignore that would be quite a big buff for it, 300 rage on a dodgie that is very likely using Ogata instead of Voidwalkers would be very opressive.

A 1T cooldown doesn't nerf it a bunch, you can use it on the next turn again. It would just mean a dodgie wouldn't get punished for glancing.

I don't think Retaliate deserves a buff. Maybe other parts of Demon Hunter, mainly Reaver, sure. But Matador is already on the strong side.

Arguably, it -should- lose all of the rage energy, even on miss or glance. Excel was changed to work that way.

Yes but unlike Excel, Retaliate doesn't use weapon accuracy. It uses your flat hit. So without hit buffs to supplement it. Something DH doesn't really have that consistently. You end up missing or glancing Retaliate.

Retaliate is actually pretty well balanced IMO. It's a strong move but like Cog said, it has shit accuracy which is why it isn't completely punishing to miss.. But even then, it's 25FP to use on a class that needs FP to function, and that cost is increased by using it twice in one round.

Personally I think it's fine in player hands, it just feels very jarring when a boss has it and just start popping it like crazy until they hit something.

I say Retaliate shouldn't really be something that gets its resources refunded just because an evade unit... did what it's supposed to do as an evade unit. It'd be similar to holding a boxer down because they ducked a haymaker so the next one has a chance to hit them. Kind of unfair.

When you use retaliate, you're committing to expending your rage energy, just like a mage commits to using their mp for a spell. DH already has an evade ignore combo, too, no?

Retaliate not losing Rage Energy on a glance or a miss just punishes evade for...evading.

It's already a strong button being a movement option that ignores immobilizing effects, something that was made into a feature of the skill. If it has a disadvantage versus dodgy folks that's probably okay, but if you want to make it tied to the weapon itself for the purposes of accuracy I don't think anyone's gonna argue against that either, except maybe the dodgies.
