But then there is still the spars-gone-wrong/betrayal fights. What about those?

Well, stuff like that happens already, to be fair, just barely, and usually people go to get guards if anything goes wrong, or hopefully.

Have the 'spars' noted with wooden swords instead of iron swords.

I think that if someone's intention is to betray someone, or have a spar gone wrong, they should note it at the beginning of the fight OOCly. SL2 has restrictions on it, anyway- you can't hurt players without their consent- so simply having the fight start with non-spar mode should work.

Furthermore, this is probably getting ahead of myself a fair bit but. . . thoughts on making some skills only useable in non-spar scenarios (assuming the concept is green-lit)?

I.E. Retaliate and Ether Invitation.

I don't agree with that, to be honest, not everyone RP's Ether Invitation as what it is, neither with Retaliation (When was the last time someone said "You got the horns cabrone" anyway)

Can we get an indicator for when a fight is Serious? (The crossed swords being red colored) And if you are Sparring, you can have the access to Leave Battle? (In the same fashion of Arena Fights)
