Ruler Guy Makes Ruler Balance Suggestion (Elemental Augment for Automatons)
#1
As it stands now, elemental enchants, spare talvyd for its movement properties, are some of the worst enchants to use for automatons, they are the lowest in priority so they are eaten after fortunes, they only add tiles to move skills and a -25% weakness to a given element, all in return for non armor ignoring bonus damage which scales off of almost no elemental attack.

I suggest changing how Elemental augment works for automatons, or maybe even for all allies, ordered by the most strong to least in terms of approach.

1. Augment uses the highest elemental attack between caster and recipient. This would make giving other allies your element strong, but it might also be a bit too strong in some cased, a twin strike build receiving around 100-200 more damage per basic does sound quite a bit powerful.

2. Automatons either by default use the caster's elements in their stat spread or use the casters elements directly from their own stats when calculating elemental augment damage. This would allow only automatons to get the full benefit from elemental augment. No Automaton uses elemental attack as far as i'm aware, so it should be easy enough to swap out their elemental attacks for the casters in order to use the elemental enchants to the greatest effect.

This would allow automatons to do damage more comparable to other summons, while also having it locked behind a heavier momentum investment, I feel as if it is balanced.

I feel so sad for the Ruler coping, the meme isn't even funny anymore. Hope the class gets readdressed as a whole in the future.

I'm literally just throwing out balance ideas I thought might be neat.

Ruler isn't really a meme. If we wanna get 100% real for a second since it seems this sentiment is widespread:

Ruler is actually a usable class that can succeed both in pvp and in pve, as long as it's played well. It is not a strong class, but it's also not the weakest class. The main downside of ruler is that it's slow and tedious to play, and it takes a turn or two to get started. So it suffers in event pve where things get spicy on round 1. But overall it's a functional class. I think the pawns are the strongest part of the class as you quickly get 2 bodies out on the field, it's a great pve meat shield.

It just needs a few buffs to feel better to play.

Now to addresss the post: Yeah, elemental augment is a really nice skill, but it suffers in some cases, especially when you put talvyd on some units with low cel for instance. Ice definitely isn't doing too bad, comparatively.

But yeah it would be a really nice change to mage overall if it could use the caster's atk instead of the user.

That means the contestants had hard skill issues. Tell them get good, you cant just lose to a low mid tier and call it busted. Thats a hard skill issue.

As said ruler in said tournament, no - no it very much wasn't a matter of skill issue. Those mobs were hard as balls and those who participated gave it their all against some of the most cracked shit in EM PvE.

Ruler is just unique in its ability to throw bodies at the problem - pawns are targets and thus can be used to ensure that aggressive targets are kept away for a turn because AI isn't like a player, and doesn't have the strategic foresight to not cast all of its AoE trying to kill a pawn because it was the closest thing in the area.

So I don't appreciate playing down the efforts others put in, nor do I really appreciate that victory being weaponised against the class in discussions about buffs, the niche it filled to get that far doesn't really exist outside of these gauntlets, whether because normal content is so easy that it can't get going before the content's over or because harder content from Dev tends to be a lot of prolonged harsh AoE and globals that quickly dismantle the class (usually in smaller arenas than the tournament used, to boot, rendering the distance game much harder to play)

Logical arguments aside, even, it just feels bad to see people trying to get a class buffed and having someone come forward with spite to use my event performance as a gotcha. It's disingenuous, and in bad taste, so please don't.
